President's Message:
Quilts for All Seasons seems a long way away but if you have not started your masterpiece it is right around the corner. Whether it is a precision pieced, patiently appliqued or a one of a kind art masterpiece, the Quilt Show is the place to display our guild's talents. Many will attend Quiltfest in Jacksonville this month and will marvel with wonder the talents of the seven sisters in the Jacksonville area. I am always amazed that I personally know a lot of the winners from that show and seen their work in their local quilt shows. The talent in Tree City rivals those quilts in Jacksonville. Don't be shy, enter your quilt!!!
If you are not ready to take the plunge, consider making a Patriotic Quilt to be entered into to the show as a "display only" for the public to enjoy and be donated to our local VA hospital. Our show will have raffle baskets, youth art, an opportunity quilt, vendors and other fun things but it will not be successful if we do not have quilts. Remember a Quilt Show means Quilts.
Again don't be shy...enter a quilt.

Call for hearts!!!! DID YOU KNOW THAT THE HOSPITAL NEEDS 600 A MONTH? There are 100 new babies that need these little flannel treasures to provide the comfort of momma in the neonatal unit at Shands. We have flannel to give, we just need you to make them. Please give an hour a month to make them.
Brown Bag Challenge
Do you have fabric that you bought and don't know what to do with it? Want to be inspired by a new pattern or design? Are you lazy and want someone else to Make something for you?
Gather three fat quarter that go together...put a note with your name and three things that you like to do for fun (besides quilting) Put everything in a bag. You give a bag you get a bag...You will have three months to make something small (no larger than 30 x 30). It can be a mug rug, a table runner, a bag, a water bottle holder...Once you give up the bag, you give up control. We ex-change in August...you have September, October and November to work on it. In December, you will get a fun Christmas gift from your Tree City Santa. It will be fun to see if you can recognize your fabric or if you remember :)
NOTE: I have received several emails about the brown bag challenge...and is it too late to join.
So if you want to participate (we had 25 people sign up) we will have another swap at the September meeting. Please bring three coordinating fat quarters in a bag with a note inside that explains what you like, dislike etc. If you bring a bag, then you will take a bag home. You will bring a completed project that is small (table runner, purse, mug rug etc) to the Christmas party to give back to the original owner of the three fat quarters.
